Cleaning services in Duncan, BC — common questions
How much does house cleaning cost in Duncan, BC?
Rates start at $50 per hour for regular home and office cleaning, with products included. A three-bedroom home usually works out to $125 to $150 a visit once it is on a regular schedule. Deep cleans start at $55 to $60 an hour, and move-out cleans are quoted flat, usually $250 to $700. These are starting rates, not fixed prices — the quote depends on the size and condition of the space, how much product it takes, and the distance.
What areas do you serve?
Duncan, North Cowichan, Chemainus, Crofton, Cowichan Bay, Mill Bay, Shawnigan Lake and Ladysmith — the Cowichan Valley generally. There is never a separate travel charge; for the further towns the drive is simply included in the quoted price.
Will the same person clean every time?
Yes. Rama's Cleaning Services is owner-operated. Rama cleans every job herself, so the same person is in your home each visit and the standard does not change. No rotating crew, no subcontractors.
Do I need to be home during the cleaning?
No. Most regular clients are at work and leave a key, lockbox code or door code. Others prefer to be home the first time and leave a key afterwards. Both are normal.
Do you bring your own supplies and equipment?
Yes, all included in the hourly rate at no extra charge. If you would rather your own products were used — for allergies, pets, or surfaces like natural stone — leave them out and those will be used instead.
How do I pay, and how often?
Interac e-Transfer or cash. Regular residential clients are invoiced every few weeks rather than after each visit. Commercial clients get a numbered monthly invoice itemised by date and hours. One-time jobs are paid on completion.
Is there a contract or minimum commitment?
Regular clients get a short written service agreement covering scope, rate, frequency and notice, and businesses can have a formal signed contract if they need one. Neither carries a minimum term or a cancellation fee — skip a week, change frequency or stop entirely with reasonable notice, so the slot can go to someone else.
How much notice do you need to book?
About a week for a regular weekly or bi-weekly slot. Move-out cleans cluster around month-end possession dates and fill first, so give as much notice as you can. Short-notice jobs are often still possible.
What is the difference between a regular clean and a deep clean?
A regular clean maintains a home that is already in reasonable order. A deep clean resets it — inside the oven and fridge, inside cupboards, behind appliances, baseboards by hand, grout, window tracks. A deep clean takes roughly twice as long.
Do you clean homes with pets?
Yes. Pet hair, litter areas and muddy paw traffic are all normal. Mention your animals when booking so enough time is allowed, and flag any product that should be avoided around them.
Can you clean evenings or weekends?
Yes. Most commercial clients are cleaned after hours, and weekend residential slots are available. Evening work is easier to arrange for offices than for homes.
What do you not do?
Interior windows above safe reach, exterior windows, carpet shampooing, post-construction debris removal, and regulated clinical or food-safety sanitation. If a job is outside what an owner-operated service should take on, you will be told directly rather than have it done badly.
